Lara Bolton is a dynamic and multi-faceted keyboardist, vocal coach, conductor, arranger, and recording artist. Known both for her musical versatility and work with singers, she is highly sought after for a wide variety of projects.
Ms. Bolton has a long career of vocal coaching, and maintains a large private coaching studio. She is also currently on faculty at the University of Minnesota. Other operatic affiliations include The Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Washington National Opera, San Diego Opera, Seattle Opera, Minnesota Opera, Chicago Opera Theatre, Opera Santa Barbara, Mill City Summer Opera, Opera Colorado, West Bay Opera, Fresno Opera and Amarillo Opera.
Ms. Bolton has music directed unique operatic productions for several companies, including the socially-missioned An Opera Theatre's production of Britten's The Rape of Lucretia in 2022. In 2019, she music directed the site-specific production of Out of the Box Opera's production of Handel's Acis and Galatea.
In 2018, she created several arrangements that were featured on a project for which she also music directed titled Opera + Jazz/Soul that premiered in Minneapolis, MN, and was taken to New York City's 75 Club later that year. She is a regular collaborator on the fusion project Guns N' Rosenkavalier, with Andy Wilkowske, featuring arrangements written by John Glover and Kelly Rourke. Ms. Bolton and fellow keyboardist and singer-songwriter Jim O'Neill collaborated on a Great American Songbook project that featured them both as solo keyboardists, vocalists, and duo partners. She was also the keyboardist for John David and the Jerks for their most recent vinyl release party at the legendary 7th St. Entry in Minneapolis. In 2017 she produced a benefit concert called Love Answers: that musically responded to violence, fear, and hatred in our local and global communities.
